We are offering an exciting and dynamic postdoctoral position at the Van Creveldkliniek. You will be involved in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments focused on:
- Research on calcium homeostasis in red blood cells.
- Further development of preclinical models for benign hematological disorders, with a particular emphasis on sickle cell disease.
- Preclinical drug testing.

The Van Creveldkliniek, part of the Division of Internal Medicine and Dermatology at UMC Utrecht, is a national center of expertise for rare hereditary and acquired hematological disorders. We provide multidisciplinary care for patients with coagulation disorders, red blood cell abnormalities, and platelet disorders.
Our clinic is a recognized expertise center for sickle cell disease. This postdoctoral position offers the unique opportunity to work very closely with patients and clinicians, ensuring direct access to relevant patient material and a collaborative environment aimed at making a real impact on patient care. You will collaborate with internationally renowned experts in an institution equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven postdoctoral researcher with:
- Proven hands-on experience with (imaging) flow cytometry, calcium assays, and GST pull-down techniques.
- A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., biomedical sciences, cell biology, hematology, or a related discipline).
- Affinity with red blood cell biology and/or thrombosis is not mandatory but considered a strong advantage.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to independently plan, manage, and execute research projects.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively and seek expertise when needed.
- A meticulous working style with great attention to detail and reproducibility.
- Excellent command of the English language (spoken and written).
